The continuous birch plywood millwork spine anchors the 1,200-square-foot apartment, concealing structural columns and ductwork while organizing storage, display, and workspace in one fluid gesture.

The guest bathroom includes a concrete wall and pale yellow tiles from Daltile.

“The bedroom is without a doubt my happy place,” Adam says.

Adam Levy sits in the kitchen of his rented midtown apartment. Rodriguez furnished the apartment with a mixture of vintage pieces, like Adam’s dining chairs, with newer pieces, like the plant stand from West Elm.

Monica sourced the solid oak dining table from Poland while on a family trip. 1960s vintage Aldo Jacober folding chairs complement a built-in banquette. The pendant light is from Tala Lighting.

The bathroom on the main level is a custom paint job, an ombre that blends Jeweled Peach and Honey Burst, both from Benjamin Moore.

The rental’s bathroom is finished in Benjamin Moore’s Hot Spice, paired with color-matched grout.

The fireplace itself was an original feature in the Tudor Revival living room, but the original tile was chipped, stained, and needed a refresh.

The spacious, covered deck is ready for anything. “From snowstorms to eclipse, we can play here,” says Adair. It’s turned into a big gathering space for their community; sometimes the family hosts film screenings en plein air.

Adair has long wished for Togo chairs, but as much as she loves the design, she tries not to be too precious about it. “We let the kids use them how they want, and they’re perfect fort furniture,” she says. “They’re really durable. It’s a design that makes architect parents happy.”

A view of the sauna building before the patio and seating were constructed on the other side. The log cabins were constructed by a specialist company, and another builder helped with the interior walls. Jussi-Pekka and his father did all the other building and landscaping work, apart from the electrical and plumbing—often working 12-hour days.
