A custom-built island anchors the kitchen-dining area, the most social area of the home.

“It has a public and private feel, which we like.” A French blue table designed by David adds color to the dining area. “It was important to us to have unexpected and whimsical elements in the house,” says Mark. “We didn’t want it to be too serious.”

The metal railing that runs around the whole plot - including the metal gate at the entrance, a homage to the couple's dog, Lusia - is made with steel powder coated in the signature raspberry red color of the house.

Polished concrete floors and pale clay plaster on the walls were used throughout the kitchen and living spaces.

Owner Jill Lucia has her own interior design firm, and she and her team oversaw the furnishings. A Marenco Sofa by Mario Marenco for Arflex anchors the living room alongside a thrifted coffee table and a Little Petra side chair. The custom rug is by Montana Iabelle.
