Lighting floods into the space during the day through many, many windows on the main floor. A Herman Miller Nelson Saucer Bubble pendant light above the dining table helps illuminate the room come nightfall.

Only the windows from the sitting room, looking into the backyard, are original. The rest are from Marvin's Ultimate collection, selected to match the mull detail of the originals.

Now the couple can look out at the city from the farthest corner of the kitchen. In the dining room, a Muuto light hangs above the dining table, bench, and chairs by Hay.

Bowman found the salvaged wood for the mantlepiece and gifted it to the couple on completion of the project. The Uchiwa Lounge Chair and Ottoman, and Mags Soft Low Sofa are both by Hay, with a Flos light overhead. The painting above the sofa is by Georgia Young and the painting on the fireplace is by Solee Darrell.

Howmeowner and designer Ghislaine Viñas painted the glass front door's frame in Benjamin Moore's lemon-y hue, Baby Chick. Her graphic designer husband Jaime created the numerical graphic that also serves as a privacy screen.

The home is located at Ragged Point, and the young family is always “running full out,” as Adair says—so she and Kopp cheekily named the project the Run Ragged house.

The spacious, covered deck is ready for anything. “From snowstorms to eclipse, we can play here,” says Adair. It’s turned into a big gathering space for their community; sometimes the family hosts film screenings en plein air.

Adair has long wished for Togo chairs, but as much as she loves the design, she tries not to be too precious about it. “We let the kids use them how they want, and they’re perfect fort furniture,” she says. “They’re really durable. It’s a design that makes architect parents happy.”

A long table acts as an easy gathering place for friends and family, a few steps from the kitchen.

Lawler chose to mimic the "tidy

Lawler's mom wanted an all-white kitchen, and he delivered with Caesarstone countertops in Blizzard alongside Venice terrazzo tile from Concrete Collaborative. A Mags Sofa and 82 Armchairs from Hay sit in the living room.

The 3,200-square-foot home is connected to a shed out back, which has an office and storage space.

Looking for a better separation between work and home life, Seattleites Natalie Rohde and Patrick Haig asked local firm Linework Architecture to draw up plans to replace an aging backyard shed with a standalone workspace containing two acoustically separated offices. To make it work for their budget, the couple convinced Patrick’s father, Rob, a retired contractor, to lead the build.
