The home’s interior palette includes exposed concrete floors, reclaimed wood millwork, and wood columns sourced from a local barn.

Quality millwork in the primary suite—small details such as the cylindrical handles and channeling around the doors—gives it a modern sophistication. The white oak cabinetry complements the white oak flooring, salvaged from a renovation in a different neighborhood.

This prefab also has a wraparound deck with a shaded dining area.

A loster screen mediates the sun’s rays as it filters in to the living areas from the west at sunset, gently illuminating the natural teak wood that in turn balances the home’s dark palette.

The kitchen includes under-counter cabinets from Ikea and a custom open shelving system and hood in white oak designed and built by Jai and Lindsay.

The use of green mosaic tiles in the bathroom is a "polite homage" to the balcony's original green mosaic floor tiles.

Though they modernized the kitchen with white oak cabinetry and marble counters, the couple were able to restore details such as the original terrazzo flooring that extends from the entrance and the dropped ceiling just above.

Amir and Chi replaced the hearth's broken tiles and stuccoed the sides of the open fireplace, which Lord had originally detailed with a gravel mosaic.

Even the primary en suite features Marvin windows—a large picture beneath twooperating awnings, which frame lush tree views. The ebony finish complements the black, in-built fireplace and boldly juxtaposes the muted interior.

Though the ceiling looks spectacular, it’s really crafted from standard 2’x2’ boards from Home Depot. LED light strips enhance the impact. “When you explain the method to someone, they’re like, ‘that’s it?!’” Laughs Losada-Amor.
