The home’s washroom, located on the first floor, features GROHE faucets and granite counters. An adjoining bathroom and walk-in closet complete the space.

The lower level houses the primary suite with a soaking tub and sauna, as well as three additional bedrooms and a full bathroom.

The living area is oriented around a floating window seat crafted from oak. "We wanted a place for guests to comfortably sit, read, and reflect in the beautiful Colorado surroundings," says Tarah. "We sourced the perfect slab of white oak from a local mill. We kept the edges raw and used a light, matte finish that highlighted the natural beauty without it being over saturated. I wanted it to feel as unfinished and natural as possible."

The Nook exterior features shiplap cypress siding, a reclaimed oak deck, and an entranceway of oak blackened in the traditional Japanese method.

When you walk in the front door.

LaFayette Studio, which helped with the interiors, selected a Holly Hunt fabric for built-in sofas, which are complemented by a rug from Rush House, a sconce by Brendan Ravenhill Studio, and a Swift ceiling light from Cedar & Moss.

The master suite comes with its own fireplace, and built-in window seats with expansive views over the treetops.

This two-story scheme maximizes privacy for the office by locating it on the second floor.

The architect designed the kitchen cabinetry, and used wood left over from the demo of the house’s exterior wall for the dining table. A piece by Nicolas Grenier hangs above a cabinet the residents found at a garage sale.

The rear opens up 23 feet, and the glass doors pocket into the wall.

The inoperable picture windows were replaced with large sliding glass doors that open to the new seating patio.
