Bedrosians tile covers the walls and floor, with sconces by Kelly Wearstler for Visual Comfort and California Faucets.

The architects wrapped this room in storage, this time with the same wood and finish as the primary bathroom vanity. The wall light is the Bega Semi-Recessed Globe Luminaire, with an EQ3 Round Ottoman in Lana Light Purple sitting before the dressing table. In order to maintain flexibility in the plan, Clément and Eleonora can also convert this to a bedroom at a later time.

The refrigerator and extra storage are assigned to the adjacent pantry. White oak cabinets from Thompson Woodworking join a honed Carrara marble counter and backsplash tile from Pratt and Larson in color C35. The stove is the GE Café series in matte white with brass details.

The new kitchen is outfitted with white oak cabinetry by Ramon Padilla, Trias counter stools and a La Cornue oven and range.

The designers specified custom cabinets in Benjamin Moore ‘Midnight Oil’ with honed marble on the counter, backsplash, and forming a functional ledge. The Yokato faucet in Brushed Nordic Brass PVD syncs with the Composers Sconces by Allied Maker. The walls are covered in Roman Clay, ‘Full Circle,’ from Portola Paints. The clay has “this really soft, buttery texture, so it’s very subtle but cozy,” says Gallois. “Almost like a cocoon.”

The red rock of the fireplace façade became smooth drywall with an elongated concrete hearth. “We fireproofed it with a layer of fireproofing between the actual fire insert and the outside walls,” notes Mattingly of the application. The rug is the Savannah from Armadillo, topped with a Cierre Aida Sectional from KCC, and a Little Petra Lounge Chair by &Tradition. The lighting is Noguchi, and casts a soft glow at night.

The designers specified an integrated sink and vanity out honed Calacatta Monet marble, set against a wall of dimensional Cyclone tile from Fireclay, with an Aalto A330S Golden Bell Savoy Pendant for contrast. The walls are Roman Clay ‘Nitty Gritty’ from Portola Paints.

Oak lines the interior for a tactile surprise, and the marble counter echoes the marble on the island and perimeter counters.

“The kitchen is really the heart of the home,” says the owner. “It feels very special to us.” An extra-long island hosts everything from children’s homework sessions to “cooking parties,” such as when the owners have friends over every year to make apricot jam from fruit picked in the yard. The placement of the cooktop means the cook can be working and there’s room for people to help, or mill about easily, inside and out. “We'll open the big doors and dine on the deck, and have appetizers on the island,” says the owner. “I'll still be cooking in the kitchen and never feel like I've left the party.”

The custom slatted wood railings is fitted with discreet flip-down hooks to hang coats. Stairs lead down to a guest space and an additional unit for a future caretaker. An elevator, not visible, also connects the two levels. The Overlap pendant is by Michael Anastassiades for Flos.

In the kids' room, toys can be easily tidied away into large cabinets.

The new primary bedroom is outfitted with a bay window that features a built-in bench.

The bunk room features four extra-long bunk beds, allowing the home to sleep 10.

The boys’ bedrooms each feature large windows by Jeld-Wen and ample storage. The wallpaper mural depicting the peak of Mount Fuji is from Hovia.

The only big change Plum Projects made to the home's envelope was in the loft, where they installed a gable-style dormer to better take advantage of lake views.

Redone with tranquility and escape in mind, the primary suite bathroom feels spa-like with a wash of Bedrodsians Magnifica Calacatta in super white.
