Hoertdoerfer’s vision for the open-air cabana included holes in the wall for plants to poke through. Karen designed the seating and the chandelier, which was fabricated by artist Eric Doran from a piece of metal Karen found in his shop.
Stepstone's narrow concrete pavers add a graphic touch to the garden.
The dining room leads onto a terrace with a built-in concrete table and barbecue that are original to Raman and Schaffrath’s design. A pair of Hardoy butterfly chairs from Knoll are positioned by the pond.
The kitchen is grounded by a Carrera marble island, over which hangs a set of opaline pendant lamps from the 1970s. The bar stools are also vintage from the 1970s, while the bright green chairs around the dining table are by Bruno Rey.
