Flooded with natural light, the kitchen is set up with daily rituals in mind. An espresso machine, ceramic cups, and stereo for music bring rhythm and comfort to morning routines. “It’s how I would want to move through the morning and day,” shares Mila.

A large circular window adorns one of the home’s two bedrooms. “I was drawn to certain shapes, and wanted to see how they translate,” says Mila. “I used a lot of graph paper, and as soon as it looked proportional and right, I was like, ‘Okay, this is going to be it,’” she shares of her experimental design process.

The eight-foot drywall ceiling that originally existed was removed, with Mila sanding, painting, and insulating the original trusses to highlight them as a design element.
