The creative dining room table is not just a clever solve for a small space, it's a beautiful bespoke piece. Form and function each gets its spotlight.

They chose to mount the tv so it can be used in all the different set ups their multi-purpose space allows.

One example of a clever space-saving solution is the built in shoe storage.

Before: The house was designed and built in 1978 by John Rause. Interior finishes had seen excessive wear and tear. "The house had little opportunity to access fresh air," says StudioFour director Annabelle Berryman. "In fact, the heart of the home received no direct fresh air as it opened directly into a large glazed pool enclosure. The air that dissipated from this zone was both damp and stagnant."

“A conglomeration of boxes around a bit of a pitched roof” is how Mark describes his transformation of the 1920s Los Angeles bungalow. Inverting the traditional layout, he set the private rooms in the front and a large, open living area in the rear.

"Once you use the pivot doors to enter these wet areas, spaces are lit from above and the center of the pod is white," says the firm. "Large sheet tiles that match the timber floor in tone are used for the wet area floors, and similar large format tiles in white are used for the majority of wet area walls." The vanity is fashioned from American oak, while the counter and custom sink are composed of white HI-MACS solid surface material.
