The living room originally had eight-foot ceilings, which Carrino demolished to create a double-height space. “Knowing there was no second floor over that portion of the home, I knew I wanted to maximize the height and anchor the room around the amazing stone chimney,” he says.
Carrino added a number of fun design elements throughout the home to reference the surrounding forest, including wainscoting, campy wallpaper applied to the ceilings, and handmade log furniture.
In the kitchen, designers Christina Valencia and Kele Dobrinski of Colossus Mfg. created a 14-foot island with a waterfall edge made of platinum-gray quartzite.
The DJ station and record collection is a perfect fit in the living room.
The new vanity is made of ACX Pine Plywood topped with decorative laminate by Abet Laminati. Schoolhouse Alabax sconces are mounted on the custom mirror. The floor tile is from Daltile.
