Ashley and Ross Goldman re-landscaped their front yard to include low-water plantings that thrive in the San Diego climate.

Inception Shades are designed to be mounted to a wall or window trim, with a ceiling-mount option coming soon. For homes with intricate or ornate window trim, Inception Shades can easily be mounted to the wall above the trim, with the shade fabric rolled forward instead of back, “waterfall” style.

The goal of Inception Shades was to preserve the clean and minimal J Geiger aesthetic, while simplifying and expediting the installation process. This vision was realized through the creation of Inception 3eight and 2ten shades (2ten pictured here), which “can be installed in about 1/60th of the time of a traditional J Geiger shade,” says Geiger.

The renovation preserved the home’s original rustic beams.

Stones cover the garden floor, instead of a lawn, to save on water use. A selection of succulents and ferns creates a Mediterranean feel.

The chair came from an antique dealer in Mallorca. The blue painting is by Catalan artist Regina Giménez.

By removing the walls that made up the original bungalow’s small, cramped rooms, Nwakpa Gillespie created a spacious living room. She added windows and vaulted the ceiling, giving the space an airy and expansive feel.
