REIMAGINED TODDLERS BED: Reimagine the KURA bed by adding a roofline and white washing the bedframe. This simple structure transforms into endless possibilities for a child’s imagination.

The children’s room has a built-in wardrobe that follows the wall colors.

Shophouses are a staple of Southeast Asian urban architecture. A team of designers including Yong Ter, Teng Wui, Andrew Lee, and Edwin Foo renovated this shophouse into a contemporary sanctuary over the course of two years. They left the roof completely open from the beginning of the original airshaft to the back of the house. The heart is a cooking/dining area with a 13-foot-long Indonesian table made from a single piece of teak.

All of the lights are equipped with dimming mechanisms, and they emit a honey-hued glow to create a sense of warmth.

Circulations

A centuries-old blue oak stands near the intersection of the two wings of the house, which is clad in Alaskan yellow cedar. “We decided to split the house into two volumes to let in light and allow us to be more nimble with where we placed the structures.” Jess Field, the architect.
