Ana Smud’s studio is in downtown Buenos Aires, yet she also has a home office with built-in bookshelves and a long narrow desk.

The architecture of the Fishers’ home—which was built in the early 1980s—is inspired by the traditional Hill Country style found in Central Texas and embraces natural materials such as limestone and timber. “The idea was to complement and feature the natural beauty of our neighborhood which is surrounded by cedar trees and green belts as well as a private golf course,” says Jennifer.

Adair has long wished for Togo chairs, but as much as she loves the design, she tries not to be too precious about it. “We let the kids use them how they want, and they’re perfect fort furniture,” she says. “They’re really durable. It’s a design that makes architect parents happy.”

The home’s H shape becomes clear when viewed from above.

The Tarantis landscaped the entry with grass and trees.

A “bridge” connects the home’s two volumes. On either side of the bridge from the entry is an open-air patio planted with local grasses and shrubs.

A covered terrace runs the length of the home’s common areas.
