The chef’s kitchen is dressed in a classic white aesthetic, with stone countertops, stainless-steel appliances, a large stove with an industrial range hood, and European glass cabinets. A custom wine vault and large pantry is also included.

The same red brick flooring from the living room continues to the outdoor patio, an idyllic place for Kari to paint. She regularly uses drop clothes for new pieces.

The tight knit family enjoys movie nights and playing music together in the family room.

Kari’s colorful living room features a handful of her paintings, a splatter-painted sofa, midecentury wall sconces, and curved wooden coffee table. The palette was informed by her art and vice versa.

The home's original fireplace has been painted white, juxtaposing the living room's many art pieces.

Large windows and minimal furnishings in every bedroom help retain a tranquil, site-forward aesthetic.

Bedrooms are kept simple with stucco walls and large windows. A trundle pulls out from under the larger bed to better accommodate large groups of guests.

The doors in the lower section of the house are made from treated pine and finished with a black varnish to match the stucco walls.

Under the extension of the A-frame is the dining area and a large sofa for gathering. According to Pablo, the family gathers there in all weather. "Listening to the rain on the roof and in the trees is a wonderful experience," he notes.

Pablo designed his family’s home to disrupt as little of the landscape as possible.

In the dining area, an AGO Cirkus chandelier hangs over a Laurel table from Burke Decor. The black Salt chairs are from Design Within Reach, and the Stature end chair is from CB2.

The 750-square-foot accessory dwelling unit (ADU) that Bo Sundius and Hisako Ichiki of BunchADU designed in Los Angeles’s Atwater Village is filled with bright colors that help to designate the spaces within the small backyard home.

A timber staircase accesses the loft-like office and is wider at the bottom, where it doubles as shelving.

Bright Designlan designed the primary suite to have a bespoke, white-oak bed with slatted wall paneling and curving bedside tables, as well as a large en-suite bathroom with sauna.
