Now the rebuilt staircase is a sculptural backdrop to the living room, which gained more space and natural light. The Tepee Sofa is by Lucy Kurrein, and the brass stool by Hem. The floors are Madera Belgian Oak.

Kwame and Tamara worked with architect Aniket Shahane of Office of Architecture for a gut remodel of all three floors. The staircase was rebuilt to include an integrated railing, a skylight added for more natural light, and the existing wall niche kept.

The glass-walled ground level has an open layout that includes a kitchen and dining area, a living space, and a home office that can be closed off from the rest with hidden sliding doors. The central structure holds the staircase and a powder room.

The kitchen cabinets are made of incienso wood, and the countertops and backsplash are made of Carrara marble.

Most of the color in the primary suite comes from the greenery right outside.

One of the side patios on the perimeter of the house features a mix of potted plants and newly planted trees, such as the denuded linden tree in the foreground.

Windows offer wraparound views in the master bedroom. The nightstands and bed are from the Matera line by Sean Yoo for Design Within Reach; the Stem lamps are from Rejuvenation. The last owner painted the walls Gentleman’s Gray by Benjamin Moore.

A Lollygagger lounge chair by Loll Designs sits on the back deck.

Current owners Scott and Kelsey Bouska worked with Landscape East & West to replenish the half-acre property.

The living room is furnished with an Eames lounge and ottoman and a Line credenza by Nathan Yong. The fireplace, also painted by the last owner, is Wrought Iron by Benjamin Moore.

The 3,700-square-foot home has four bedrooms. The owners, who are expecting their first child, just finished transforming one of them into a nursery. The dresser is from Room & Board and the hanging planters are by Sandbox Ceramics.

The nursery features mahogany cabinets and the crib is from Crate and Barrel.
