Hello Wood offers to deliver the project practically anywhere—whether it’s a remote forest clearing or a rooftop in New York City.

Robust enough to withstand the rugged site—and two big dogs—the concrete floors store radiant heat and age beautifully over time.

The lighting in the entry, and throughout the home, was designed and crafted by Braithwaite’s firm.

A vertical strip of windows at the building’s center, where the floor plan breaks, casts a warm glow onto the white oak walls.

The primary bedroom features more white oak slats and sconces made by Braithwaite’s team.

The combined kitchen and dining room, featuring two pieces of family-heirloom furniture, feel spacious thanks to a vaulted ceiling; it and the walls are clad in Douglas fir.

Inside, timber panels treated with light oil give a clean, warm, and contemporary look. “Although the unit was intended solely as my office, it is now also frequently used as a hang-out and sleepover spot for my daughter and her friends when I’m not using it,” says owner Glen Vriesema.

“The studio is designed to give you vistas and sight lines across the whole garden,” Andrew says.

The indoor pool adjoins the main house, and features a pair of Easy Chairs by Jørgen Høj and Poul Kjærholm.

The simple material palette extends to the bathroom.

The bedroom adheres to the overall muted palette.

Atop the Hans Wegner credenza are a walnut box and hand-carved bud vases made by Daniel. The Handkerchief dish is by Ami Like Miami, and the table lamp is a ’60s prototype of the KD27 by Joe Colombo.

The living room features a Noguchi lantern, a velvet Soriana sofa by Afra and Tobia Scarpa, Ingo Maurer Uchiwa 6 fan lights, and a teak Hans Wegner credenza.

The kitchen features custom-lacquered cabinets with white oak handles and, in lieu of upper cabinets, a wall niche to display dishes.

The former sunroom, now a guest room, has a 1970s armchair by Bruno Rey.

The basement-level family room connects with a guest bedroom that features a painting by Marleigh Culver.

The slats on the window offer solar protection and privacy. “Before the slats were installed, it really felt like you were just living on the street,” says Vanbesien.

Herringbone brick floors continue into the primary suite located off the living room. In addition to featuring a spa-like bath, the suite also provides direct access to the backyard.

Built in 1895, the Queen Anne–style home boasts a trove of original details, including decorative gable, lattice, and spindle work.
