Before: The view into the backyard was chopped up by the glass doors enclosing the sunroom/living room.

At the center of the home is a cozy, light-filled sitting area, where black exposed beams pop against the white cathedral-like ceilings. A remodeled kitchen awaits just steps away.

Upon arrival, bright yellow doors lead to the home's open-air atrium, which presents access to various rooms across the single-level, H-shaped floor plan.

A large circular window adorns one of the home’s two bedrooms. “I was drawn to certain shapes, and wanted to see how they translate,” says Mila. “I used a lot of graph paper, and as soon as it looked proportional and right, I was like, ‘Okay, this is going to be it,’” she shares of her experimental design process.

In addition to the redesigned main house, Mila Morris’ Yucca Valley residence includes a tiny home, studio, and pool. Since much of the lot’s acreage sloped down into the canyon, some of the land was flattened to add the pool, along with a concrete bench designed by Mila.
