Hidden storage underneath the stairs provides space for an organized kitchen pantry.

The black slate staircase draws the eye upwards to the wooden ceiling, which took six months to restore. Dodi Moss “treated it just like an intervention on a work of art, as a testimony of and investigation into the skill with which it had been created.”

The existing shack felt dark and experientially disconnected from the remaining house, and although the backyard hadn’t been cared for in years, the new owners loved that the house had potential for an idyllic outdoor space.

Design decisions reinforced that connection to the landscape, whether that was the thoughtful program—the basement, given its limited access to natural light, is a wellness floor with a sauna and cold plunge, while the light-filled living spaces are on the upper levels—or expanding the glazing in the shack-turned-dining room.

The primary bathroom features a soaking tub, stone slab flooring, and tile from Heath Ceramics.

There’s more concealed storage in the bathroom, this time clad in wooden tile so it blends in with the wall treatment. The flooring is terrazzo tile.

In the bathroom closest to their daughter's bedroom, the owners made the shower accessible to a wheelchair.

Tile by Zia Tile runs along a wall of the upstairs bathroom. The cabinets are by Cabinets quick, and the floor tile is by Concrete Collaborative.

The designers enlivened one of the bathrooms with vertical pink tile and drawer pulls.

The kids' bathroom has a decidedly more youthful feel, with terazzo flooring and vanities and mirrors from West Elm.

Ellie installed the Étoffe wallpaper over the banquette seat.

The 8x8-inch glossy pink tile in the Dolly bathroom was sourced at Rye Ridge Tile, with Edie prismatic sconces from West Elm, and a vanity and medicine chest found on Wayfair.

Amelia's built-in desk features collected treasures and mementos and is flanked by a mint-green chair by Industry West.

Cheng placed a sconce—the Jay Street Flush Mount in White from Nino Shea—into the inset shelving. The artwork is by Andy Blank.
