Beaulieu added a few dormers to gain height upstairs, as seen in the shower here, although they’re not visible from the street.

Family members have their own areas in the mudroom. Each is equipped with a hanging basket and a repurposed teak shower mat.

The house is largely furnished with pieces already owned by the couple, including the Eames Wire Chair DKR with Eiffel base used around the dining table. “The furniture all works together to create an eclectic mix,” says designer Jamie Chioco.

Naber defined the dining area with a wood beam treatment at the ceiling. "Our general contractor suggested raising the ceiling when we added the dining room so that the new space looked intentional and not a distinct add-on," Naber says. "So we upped the vertical height and decided to fill the extra area in with decorative beams."

In the new dining room, the wall is lined with built-in maple cabinetry and topped with a white quartz counter. Naber defined the bar area with floating shelves and a backsplash composed of Glazed Brick tile from Clé Tile. Knowing that the large expanse of the back wall would draw the eye, Naber wanted a unique installation for it: the Roke mural wallpaper from Anewall. "This was one of the main ideas I had going into this addition," Naber says. "I love how it looks like the ocean and really ties the indoor in with the outdoor."

The apartment above the garage received a dormer to enlarge the interior footprint.

The wrap-around deck is a fantastic summer destination, outfitted in finds from Amazon and Target.

To minimize energy use, the residence relies on natural ventilation for cooling. Heat is provided by an inflow hydronic tubing system. Note the guesthouse seen behind the bridge.

Open timber shelves in the bathrooms offer additional surface space. Brass fixtures add warmth and texture to the minimal palette.

The dark tile used in the guest bathroom was chosen to both complement and create a quiet backdrop for the more expressive character of the marble. Elsewhere, light finishes help to reflect light around the space, making it feel brighter and more open.

Now, the sizeable kitchen is an exceptional blend of old and new. The original floors, coffered ceiling, and windows are joined with IKEA cabinets with Semihandmade fronts, and Vermont-sourced Danby marble counters.

A custom steel dining table with a walnut insert is surrounded by Eames Molded Plastic side chairs; the hanging fixture is from Tech Lighting.
