In the back of the home, a slanted cedar deck leads from the kitchen to an outdoor patio and large yard. The front of the residence includes a spacious deck with glass railings that is positioned above the garage and overlooks a granite rock garden.

For the remodel of the two-level home, now dubbed the Kit House, Nick and Marie maintained the original post-and-beam ceiling with cedar slats, as well as the full-height brick fireplace. The residents removed a wall dividing the kitchen, living, and dining areas to open up the formerly small and dark rooms and create one large, light-filled space.

Cabinetry maker Forest Designs used birch plywood to craft the U-shaped kitchen island, which is topped with quartz from Floform. The Ziro floor tiles in Gris are from Navarti and the contemporary metal edge pulls are from Richelieu. The appliances are from Whirlpool.

A West elm sofa and a Jens Rise Lounge Chair from Design Within Reach serves as anchors over a Saffron and Poe hand-knotted wool rug. Accents include Schoolhouse surface mount lights, a CB2 swivel wall lamp, and midcentury art prints from Printable Studio.
