The kitchenette is compact but effective. The shelving unit had to be anchored to the ceiling; building codes required a bannister for the loft, so Ben rigged up a two-for-one design. The terracotta backsplash tile is from Clé and the brass fixtures are by Phylrich.

The custom cabinetry is made from white oak, with hardware from Matilda Goad & Co. The open shelving holds pieces with meaning. "A lot of the bowls, plates, trinkets, flatware, some of the lighting and art, were kept from the business our family owned when we sold it, so these pieces are really special," Ben explains.
