The existing Macael marble counters were polished to restore its original appearance. The cabinets were refinished, and additional tiles installed to accommodate a new opening for the fridge. The sink was relocated, and the space left by the old sink was replaced with a built-in wooden cutting board. The floors are terrazzo.

The building, which is divided into sections, also contains a workroom for Jinnie and a guest room. “The main thing was that the houses in this neighborhood were very small, so l thought it would be good if this building had a slightly divided structure,” says Wook. “When you enter inside, it’s one space, but the form ended up being a house with several different roof shapes.”

In many of the home's corners, cracks appeared in the new concrete flooring once it was poured, including in this spot in the living room. Tajima and Bradley filled the cracks with grout and then gilded each of those grout lines to give the look and feel of kintsugi.
