The renovated second bedroom, outfitted with a wall of storage

Soaring trees encapsulate the lush backyard, ensuring plenty of peace and privacy.

After entering the front door, tomato red shaker-style cabinetry in the mudroom sets the tone for a warm family home.

The main residence is filled with original details, including the post-and-beam ceiling, large fireplace, and built-in shelving awaiting in one of the living rooms.

Project architects Studio Marshall Blecher and Jan Henrik Jansen Arkitekter opened up the center of the house, previously comprising a maze of fourteen small rooms, creating one large and airy kitchen and dining space with a high, chapel like ceiling. A six-meter-long concrete plinth standing at the center of the room which doubles as an island bench and dining table, had to be lowered into the house by a crane while the roof was being reconstructed.

The nightstands and dresser are both by Croft House. The overhead light is from Rejuvenation.

Each of the three bathrooms have been fully remodeled. The primary suite also comes with a spacious walk-in closet lined with hardwood floors.

The new front door, offset by a stained wood surround, leads into an entry vestibule that connects the guest wing with the rest of the house.

Now, decorative screens "provide dappled western shade and frame the view of the monumental chimney from the street," says the firm.
