An LGM wall bed from Resource Furniture is a convenient work-from-home spot. After the pandemic, the Paulas wanted to incorporate plenty of work stations in their home, as before the carriage house, “We had four of us all sitting at the dining table working,” remembers René. “It was super loud, like a trading floor at an investment bank, because all four of us would be talking at the same time.” With desks in the kids’ rooms and two offices, every family member can work in quiet.

From the rear, the home dramatically reveals its true scale. Two levels are set into the hillside site, and the rear facade is almost entirely glass divided by an undulating band of white stucco.

Lien and Jeremy bought much of their decor and lighting from Belgian retailer Classo, including the mustard-yellow velvet Camaleonda sofa by Mario Bellini.

Bedrosians tile covers the walls and floor, with sconces by Kelly Wearstler for Visual Comfort and California Faucets.

The tiny window, one of only two smaller windows in the home, reveals the thick walls, while a hidden skylight allows plenty of natural light onto the earthy custom-made vanity.
