A new powder room behind a pocket door in the hall reveals Nagoya Dark Green tile from Ames Tile. The salmon paint color is Benjamin Moore "Sharon Rose."

When Rui first bought the house, part of the ceiling had fallen down, so it was impossible to even go upstairs. He knocked down the wall separating the kitchen and dining/living room and created one large living space that also incorporates the striking green-and-black staircase.

The Airstream's height and length were extended for comfort and ease, and an HVAC system was installed with hydronic and radiant floor heating.

Architectural elements like coffered ceilings and columns were added to the dining room to give the space the charm and character that is usually associated with older homes.

Once the awkward back staircase was removed, the designers made way for a new family room downstairs.
