Side door entry turned into a mudroom to accommodate a family of four. We had all custom cabinetry made with the same Ash wood as the kitchen and living room. The mudroom is an essential stop for the family after skiing and other outdoor excursions. Lockers provide neat storage for all their gear.

Mudroom cabinetry creates consistency with the rest of the house.

The owners were looking to add a functional mudroom which would include lots of storage.

The homeowners yearned for a dedicated space that separated the hustle and bustle of their kitchen and backyard from the tranquility of their home’s interior. We took on the challenge by creating a separate entryway between the kitchen and dinette, thus crafting a dedicated mudroom.

Just outside the kitchen, the entryway contains a wall of concealed storage, including an integrated refrigerator.

The entryway has enough storage for the family of four, with spots for guests.

By reconfiguring the main areas, the designer was able to incorporate a mudroom area with custom bamboo built-ins.

The plinth for the ladder to the sleeping loft in the primary bedroom building doubles as a bench for putting on shoes. Storage along the wall becomes a desk and a window seat nestles into an intimate corner.

An open-air boardwalk carries the family west from the gathering spaces to their bedroom cabin.

The living room’s wood-burning fireplace has a concrete hearth that wraps the chimney and runs under the windows, acting as seating, a plant ledge, and creating a spot to store logs, all of which are harvested from the site.
