The master bedroom has chairs by Hay and a Wittus stove. The ceiling is a custom blue from Benjamin Moore. “It changes in response to what’s happening outside more than any other surface,” says Kathy.

A new addition accommodates a spacious, sunny dining area. The wife, a huge Gillian Welch fan, purchased the silkscreen prints above the banquette specifically for the space. Michael Miritello of Century Design Workshop in Cincinnati made the dining table. The pendant light is from Barn Electric Company, the table lamp in the corner is from a local vintage shop, and the backsplash tile was designed by Angela Adams for Ann Sacks.

In the primary bathroom, dark, textured walls create a serene and high-contrast look.

The Arguedas family—including a toddler and two dogs—lives here year-round. “We were looking for a restoration that was sympathetic to the midcentury aesthetic, but it also needed to be practical and have modern comforts,” explains Roberto Arguedas.

The twin gable home—which features a bright orange entrance door—is one of the most desired Eichler models of the era.

LaFayette Studio, which helped with the interiors, selected a Holly Hunt fabric for built-in sofas, which are complemented by a rug from Rush House, a sconce by Brendan Ravenhill Studio, and a Swift ceiling light from Cedar & Moss.

The single-level home in Los Angeles includes a large swimming pool and surrounding garden.

Windows, windows everywhere! Erickson was an early proponent of indoor/outdoor living.

Around the corner from the kitchen, a family room sits between the courtyard on one side and the backyard on the other.

In the living room, an Era sofa from Lytle Pressley joins a Calder coffee table by Minotti and a Grand Repos armchair and ottoman by Antonio Citterio for Vitra. The fireplace is by Fireorb.

“The renovated home provides a much more open family space, oriented around the pool and kitchen,” say the architects. “We felt the project was very successful in achieving visual connectivity between spaces—both in plan and in section.”

A fire pit, hot tub, and pool provide tons of space to lounge and entertain at Desert Wild.

“Owl-eye” windows in the second-floor living room look out on a sea of green. Anchoring the space is a vintage Paul Frankl sofa and lounge chair set reupholstered in pink velvet by Schumacher. A Noguchi table from Design Within Reach sits on a jute shag rug from R.E. Steele Antiques. The bookshelves are by builder Robert Christensen, who also made the kitchen cabinets.

Just inside the living room’s sliding glass door is a Parentesi lamp by Achille Castiglioni, an object Marc has admired since childhood. Below, the pool deck displays a pair of Eos side chairs, lounge chairs, and a square dining table by Matthew Hilton.
