A covered boardwalk, which Shaw regards as an outdoor hallway, connects the mudroom to the public gathering spaces.

A circular skylight positioned above the master ensuite shower introduces natural light into the space, allowing the residents to connect with the outside world in every part of the home.

Terrazzo floors and skylight up above add visual interest.

Trees create beautiful shadows on the slatted courtyard fence.

This side door used to exit through the kitchen. To the right, there’s now a powder room where the kitchen used to be. To the left, tall cupboards accommodate the boys’ school gear and baseball bags. A rush mat is inset into the floor to capture dirt and muck.

The coral and sage green color palette is continued here, via wall and floor tile from the Tile Bar. A custom white oak vanity with a quartz counter is completed with a Rejuvenation mirror and wall sconces from Cedar & Moss.

This coffee table was one of Jens RIsom's favorite pieces, it was never produced by the company.

One of the largest construction challenges was the plumbing in the showers. "After our bathrooms were finally completed, we found water leakage coming out the base of both the showers," says Elaine. "Nothing seemed to solve the problem. It turned out it was a faulty plumbing job, so we had to open up the showers, fix the plumbing, and redo all the tadelakt." This set their timeline back by months.
