Queenstown gets cold in winter, hence the installation of a sauna. Outside, the landscaping was kept deliberately casual, with rock walls and gravel paths.

The footed bathtub in the completely renovated bathroom is by Marc Newson for Caroma.

Replacing the dated bathrooms was a priority of the renovation. Highsmith embraced the tight quarters, cladding the walls in horizontal oak boards. The custom tub surround in the master bath is Calacatta marble from ABC Worldwide Stone. The fixtures are by Zucchetti.

For a spa-like experience, we incorporated a dressing room area.

The powder room ceilings are designed to resemble abstract cloud formations. Beautiful wood joinery provides ample storage.

In the master bathroom, a matte Ove tub from Wetstyle is one of Maca’s favorite getaways. The angle of the custom window, designed with a minimal frame to maximize the view, mimics the roofline.

"I put everything that I've always loved into this house," says Tyler—and that includes white tiles edged with gray grout in the bathroom, a design move previous clients had balked at.

In the master bath, a Zuma tub with Hansgrohe fixtures is covered with limestone tile to soak up the sunshine.

Wood floors and cabinetry give the bathroom a warm, Zen-like feel.
