A large, curved window in the living room looks out onto the garden and echoes the archways in the central hall.

The couple maintained much of the home’s original layout and restored ceilings that had been lowered in an earlier renovation to their prior height. Designs by Julián’s father, artist Luis Fernando Benedit, decorate the interiors alongside Julián’s and Micaela’s own works.

A dramatic, triangular skylight brings in a play of natural light throughout the day.

On the street-facing exterior facade, fiber cement panels framed in blackbutt timber form a distinct pattern.

The lot’s varied outlook was striking from the start: "To the north, you can see Mornington and Port Phillip Bay, the greenery of Mount Martha Reserve and Point Nepean to the west, and to the northwest the Melbourne CBD on the horizon," says Megowan.
