Solk used specialty materials and products judiciously in the house. Since the family likes to cook, the kitchen became a focal point. The backsplash tile is from Heath Ceramics, the appliances are Fisher & Paykel, and the custom millwork is maple, a wood Solk likes for its affordability and how it feels more casual than oak or walnut. “This is a weekend house, it’s on the water, kids are running in and out all the time,” Solk says. “It should feel at ease.”

A pair of Splügen Braü pendants from Flos hang near a kitchen island topped with black Swedish granite. The faucets are from Vola and the appliances are from Siemens.

Instead of hardware for pulls, Andrew made cutouts in the cabinetry.

He also built the record player stand using a console he salvaged from a set.

Like in the living room, Graci removed the closet in the bedroom. Andrew constructed a custom storage cabinet for clothes, suitcases, and display objects. Graci installed a mirror on the wall opposite of the windows to help bounce more light around.

The team at reBuild Workshop relocated the powder room in the plan and covered it in Aviator Olivine cement wall tiles by Zia Tile, with a Pasadena sink in mustard by CONCRETTI and two Dimple® Sconces from RBW. "The yellow sink is really funky, and that's good,

The whole project comprised only three months of design, two months of production (some 90 percent of which was completed at a Buenos Aires factory), one day of assembly, and five days of adjustments. The structure consists of just four 9-foot-8-inch-by-19-foot-7-inch modules supported by a foundation plate. “If we want to move it, we can,” says Teresa. “We could get a crane and disassemble it and then reassemble it on the coast.”

Movable slatted-wood panels allow Teresa and Nicolás to control the flow of light as well as the level of privacy from the nearby road. The space between the screen and home acts as a small deck.

Thanks to a robust solar panel array, the house is net-zero, with enough energy to charge the couple's electric car as well.

Each of the couple's three children have their own rooms, with built-in desks and storage units. The bedrooms have rift and quartered white oak flooring.

Frameless bedroom windows extend beyond the floor and ceiling. "Since it's such a small house, it was really important to have this connection between the interior and exterior," says the couple.
