The multidisciplinary team at State of Kin, a Perth-based design studio, wanted to create a uniquely Australian home, one that incorporated a variety of both multicultural and local sources. Popham Design supplied the tiles in the bathrooms, were Gebhardt chose to incorporate more color.

Here, the pitcher is a 1960’s West German Vessel from Rudi Rocket, and the Kristall Soap Dish is by Walther from the Oliver Thom Store.

The shower accesses an exterior deck via a door. “You're basically showering in the trees,” says Waterfield.

The use of green mosaic tiles in the bathroom is a "polite homage" to the balcony's original green mosaic floor tiles.

A wet room that combines the shower and soaking tub saves space in the layout.

Wood slats wrap the master bath walls, bringing in a touch of warmth and contrasting texture.

Finishes repeat to ensure a continuity of feeling throughout the home. In the primary bathroom, the floor is the same large format porcelain as the exterior spaces, the vanity counters are Concrete Collaborative terrazzo, and the shower wall tile is Mutina Rombini, which is also found on the kitchen island.

Contrasting the downstairs bath, the one in the loft is finished in mostly white.

The minimalist bathroom boasts Cararra marble surfaces, Hansgrohe faucets and shower fixtures, and a skylight by Velux.

The Brizo Frank Lloyd Wright collection fits perfectly in a nature-focused bath with organic sensibility.

“Wright was a maverick who never looked back, so we knew we didn’t want to be anchored to the past ourselves,” says Lord. “Instead we asked ourselves how we could re-envision the future of the bath space through his eyes.”
