The designers specified an integrated sink and vanity out honed Calacatta Monet marble, set against a wall of dimensional Cyclone tile from Fireclay, with an Aalto A330S Golden Bell Savoy Pendant for contrast. The walls are Roman Clay ‘Nitty Gritty’ from Portola Paints.

The master bedroom sits in the more private eastern end of the home, away from the entertainment areas.

To build the outdoor hearth, the couple started with a cinder-block base and then poured concrete into a form for a solid top, after which the brick was added.

To brighten the kitchen, which was once the darkest room, Watson and Tschopp decided on a glossy white finish, painted directly on the same rough-cut cedar paneling used throughout the house. This maintains the consistency of materials and texture, while reflecting light and enhancing the natural illumination. Stainless steel appliances and vintage bronze hardware add luster. Super White semigloss (walls) and Old Pick Up Blue (ceilings) are by Benjamin Moore.

The U-shaped kitchen was designed by Kristen to give children a space for homework and snacks away from the work area.

American white oak was used for the flooring throughout the house, including the sun-filled kitchen. A Brendan Ravenhill hangs above the sink, and a Wolf cooktop was installed opposite the island.

The stove was kept in place in order to retain the position of the gas and venting. The designer dropped the sill on the right-side window to the floor. Sleek black cabinetry is topped with Essastone Concrete Pezzato weathered stone on the perimeter, and custom terrazzo on the island.

Rather than a lush garden, the architect opted for a singular green expression. This was done by planting a sole Caesalpinia ferra tree at the atrium - a natural sculptural at the heart of the home.

An elegant timber screen at the kitchen maintains a sense of porosity, as well as lets in light and breeze while filtering kitchen mess or activity. The tactility of the Carl Hansen Wishbone dining chairs matches the kitchen screen panels.

A custom-designed console fits the wall perfectly and creates a spot to drop keys and mail, or check appearances before going out the door.
