Farm House Style
Inspired by historic American farmhouses, this modern dwelling is sited at the base of the Rocky Mountain Foothills in West Boulder, Colorado. Designed by Surround Architecture, the 6,800-square-foot property features a unique layout that makes the best use of its one-acre site, while also responding to its long driveway access.
Two office spaces serve as private think tanks for the residents of McClendon Residence. For her, StudioMET Architects designed a nook near the kitchen with a sliding panel that subtly closes the space when necessary. His is a more traditional room-sized study, and an adjacent full bathroom allows it to be used as an overflow bedroom.
"Working within the restrictive budget, design was not sacrificed; rather, it inspired the team to find a vocabulary that was simple yet refined," adds the firm. "The exterior of the home is defined by clean lines, a sculptural gable roof, and a contrasting material palette of corrugated-aluminum and warm, locally sourced cypress. "
