Based in Sacramento, CA, TAYNR specializes in prefab homes built from shipping containers.
Large, dramatic openings bring transparency and contrast to the 10-inch-thick concrete facade, framing perspectival views of the landscape.
The pinwheel plan also led to the creation of two sheltered outdoor spaces: the morning porch and the evening porch.
“I simply was drawn to the notion of concrete. So much great modern architecture has made use of it,” Blauvelt says.
The exterior terrace is complete with an integral fireplace.
The two sleeping quarters contain more solid facade than glass to provide adequate privacy.
Architect: Pleysier Perkins, Location: Merricks Beach, Victoria, Australia
