Saddle Peak House, Topanga Canyon by Sant Architects. Interiors by Context Gallery.
Family retreat in Northern California.
Entry courtyard
The home is carefully placed on the mountainside in order to have minimal impact on its hillside location. Posts were used to help preserve the surrounding nature as much as possible.
A glazed passage links the two pitched-roof structures. This intermediary space provides the most unobstructed views of the sea.
The simple materials and forms represent continuity with traditional Acadian architecture. The retreat is sheathed in metal sheets.
