The design team exposed the original brick highlighting the warmth of the original wood ceiling.

"Every good RV renovation starts with a couple douses of light-colored paint," says Lauren. "We literally painted everything we could with Sherwin Williams Passive Gray. The change was dramatic, even from just some paint."

The wood paneling and dark colors made the living space feel small and cramped.

Floor-to-ceiling glass was custom-produced by Fleetwood to allow for various vistas throughout the home—capturing the hills, wildlife, and valley views.

In the master bathroom, dark stone differentiates the space from the rest of the bright interiors. All bathrooms include electric underfloor heating.

A clean, minimalist, spa-like bathroom is warmed up with a white oak ceiling and complementary lighting valence.

In the lofted study, a Rakks modular shelf system was recessed into the drywall and topped with laminate boards. A white oak ceiling and flooring are found throughout the home, adding warmth to the minimalist palette.

In the kitchen, custom walnut cabinets are paired with stainless-steel countertops and backsplash to help reflect the natural setting. "It captures the coloration of the landscape and the light, which makes it feel larger than it is," says Murdough. "Also, stainless steel is good for kitchens and work environments."

The exterior palette consists of dark cedar siding, mahogany decks, and exposed gray steel beams.

The living room is furnished with vintage items, including a leather-and-chrome chair by Suekichi Uchida and a stacking stool by Florence Knoll.

Generous overhangs and period lighting speak to the house's era while sliding glass doors create outdoor access.

In the family room, "short ribbon windows were replaced with a wall of glass" for indoor/outdoor flow.

At this home in Sun Valley, the clients wanted a modern house that would feel authentic to the high desert mountain landscape, in a style dubbed "mountain industrial." Everything that touches the earth is stone and board-formed concrete, and everything that projects out is steel and glass, down to the kitchen island, which features two levels, an integrated sink, custom cabinetry, and polished nickel hardware.

The dining room is delineated from the kitchen by a long kitchen island with a higher partition between the two spaces. The island provides storage along its length, with exposed shelving at the ends. The drum lighting pendants by Axiom were also made using local timber.

In this kitchen and dining room, architect Bergendy Cooke rethought traditional wood panelling using black pigment-stained veneer. The kitchen has expansive surfaces, including a long, wood-topped kitchen island where the couple cook and entertain, and where the children eat and play.
