El Segundo is becoming an innovative and hip community in Southern California so when a group of Orthopedic doctors decided to expand and rebrand their existing facilities in Torrance they sought to create a new image that relates to the South Bay lifestyle. Formally Torrance Orthopedics, the new location is in a new upscale office park called Elevon. The new 11,000 sf space is on three levels: the main check-in and treatment areas on the second level; the doctors offices/conference rooms on the third level (mezzanine) which overlooks the treatment areas; and the smaller footprint ground floor is administrative and employee lounge areas. The challenge was to get the patients to the second level as they enter the building. The solution was to create an inviting grand staircase with bold graphics on the elevator shaft pointing upwards. Natural lighting and open truss ceilings emphasize the large sloping space of the treatment area. Dynamic sports and lifestyle graphics on the wall convey that wellness is eminent.
