In such a small space “you have to organize, and every piece takes a decision,” says resident Heidi Wright. The couple keep things they use less frequently, like guest bedding, in the higher cabinets.

The small second floor includes two bedroom suites (for the client's visiting children or guests), a lounge, and a covered terrace.

Continuing the built-in elements and panelling in the bedrooms creates visual consistency and eschews the need for additional furniture that may bring clutter.

Built-in pantry hidden in a corridor

The wardrobes and bathroom shelves were made to order.

“This way you have a sequence,” Lynch explains. “The stair is a circulator, and after you take off your coat, you can go downstairs to the powder room or up to the living floor.” On the other side of the millwork, he devised built-in storage and niches for display, as shown in the master bedroom, located on the second floor.

This guest suite features whitewashed brick walls.

Janette’s airy top-floor suite is furnished with a custom bed and night tables from B&B Italia. The Fleetwood sliders on all three levels were trimmed in aluminum to reflect changing light.

The bedrooms feature custom ash millwork, while large windows invite views of the outdoors in.

The walls are thickened by closet storage on two sides, which also controls the interior temperature and dampens sound.
