Every room was designed to fulfil multiple functions. The kids’ bedroom does double duty as a playroom, the dining room as an office and kitchen as a living area for family time while cooking and eating dinner.

The bedroom on the first floor gets natural light from a floor-to-ceiling window.

Plywood panels reach up to the high ceilings in every room.

The all-wood seasonal guest house is void of drywall and insulation. The exterior framing was left exposed, and interior walls are constructed of birch plywood.

The home’s second floor contains three bedroom suites, with the primary bedroom given optimal placement on the southern end of the home to take advantage of sweeping views of the Brandywine Valley.

The 2,182 square foot home’s reconfigured plan includes two bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. Upstairs, the ensuite bedrooms are near-mirror images of each other—the symmetrical spaces benefit from new south-facing dormer windows overlooking the Dyes Inlet.

After: Architect Luki Anderson of Studio Officina created a serene primary suite that reflects the minimalist aesthetic owners Laura and Kelly Moffat prefer. The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Super White, and the DWR bed features pull-out drawers for hidden storage.

There are four bedrooms in the home, and this one takes full advantage of its perch on a hill with wraparound windows.

SHED embraced the angled corners with custom cabinetry. According to Hale, the inspiration images that the couple chose were “less American Midwest farmhouse, and more contemporary Scandinavian farmhouse,” which inspired the design team to consult Scandinavian farm layouts for the master plan.
