Nanimarquina, the Barcelona-based rug manufacturer, experiments with color and patterns at Milan Design Week 2014.
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec's Losanges collection, one of Nanimarquina's most successful, is a careful study in color and pattern transferred onto a technically complex rug. "I am really proud of Losanges," Erwan Bouroullec says, "not only because it provides some qualities and some textures that are so difficult to achieve in an industrial process, but also because it is the result of the order and the lovely disorder caused by the shades and the lines breaking the geometry of the diamonds." Martí Guixé's Ghost rug for Nanimarguina plays with shadows in black and white, as pictorial motifs of birds, flowers, horses, and deep appear and disappear in it like ghosts. "I worked on a small part each day, sometimes painting during the day and sometimes at night," Guixé says. "The graphic arrhythmias reflect my different moods over a period of three months of work and give Ghost a touch of mysticism."
