These modern spaces make use of the age-old metal to provide warm, rich accents throughout the home.

In the master bedroom, a woven Loom chair by Matteograssi is paired with a wood-and-marble side table from Cécile & Boyd’s. Sliding glass doors lead to the screened outdoor veranda with a custom bronze table and Neutra Batyline chairs from Marlanteak. “The outside-inside flow was important to us, as the apartment is all about views and using the veranda spaces,” says designer Geordi De Sousa Costa.

A radiant hot water heating system was installed under a new concrete floor slab above the old foundation. It was coated with epoxy — light gray for the common areas, white for the bedrooms and bathrooms — then finished with matte polyurethane.

The kitchen is positioned strategically in the middle section of the home’s U-shaped layout. Vintage Bentwood chairs of varying wood tones were chosen for the dining set. The expansive aluminum framed window openings are double glazed in bronze, an eye-catching exterior design note. Recycled messmate timber boards are again used for the kitchen wall and island cladding.
