A cheerful striped blanket is among the custom Shinola features in guestrooms.

In the bedroom, a door opens directly to the stainless steel shower. A half-bath sits just outside the bedroom, allowing guests easy access to it when the wood panel dividing the bedroom from the main area is drawn. The sinks are by Duravit and faucets by Grohe.

A lofted sleeping space furnished with a king size Design Within Reach American Modern bed was made possible when the architects raised the ceiling to create a triangular skylight. The move carved out enough headroom to make the second-floor space usable, while still keeping the cottage in compliance with strict local zoning rules for “accessory” buildings.

The bedroom also boasts a wall of sliding glass doors that open the home to its surroundings.

Master bedroom

The circular master bedroom is supported by an illuminated, mushroom-shaped structure.

Above the bed, a custom wood valence acts as an indirect source of light that washes the wall in an ambient glow.

The guest bedroom faces one side of a lightwell.

The bedroom’s vertical, floor-to-ceiling window lets occupants admire the graceful trees outside. A Mini Tolomeo lamp by Artemide sits on the bedside table.

The bedrooms and bathrooms feature beautiful ceilings made of Scandinavian redwood.

The large windows in the master bedroom provide the feeling of sleeping within the tree tops.

A new bedroom was created in the lower level of the extension. Nested within a cliff to make the best of the site’s sloping terrain, this bedroom receives plenty of natural light.

A restrained materials palette gives the minimalist home a crisp and clean appearance.

The motto for the Panorama Glass Lodge states "Where the sky is," which works as a fitting descriptor for this cozy 248-square-foot vacation cabin.
