Squaring the window made it possible to install a window seat for reading sessions beside a favorite Spruce tree in the front yard.

After: Architect Luki Anderson of Studio Officina created a serene primary suite that reflects the minimalist aesthetic owners Laura and Kelly Moffat prefer. The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Super White, and the DWR bed features pull-out drawers for hidden storage.

Studio Officina delivered a perfectly tailored renovation to the founders of androgynous fashion brand Kirrin Finch.

“The colour palette is harmonious and restful, especially the front bedrooms,” notes homeowner Sarah.

A custom built-in dresser and wardrobe optimize storage in the main bedroom.

Farrow & Ball’s Hazy covers the custom millwork in this child’s room. “This is a very small room, which is typical to a lot of brownstones in Brooklyn,” says Cuttle. “You have this very narrow space and you're trying to make the most of it. So, the built-in stretches the length of that wall and gives the illusion of it being longer. Then the drapery reinforces the ceiling height.”

Plywood covers the floor, and forms the baseboards and headboard, both flush with the wall. The treatment denotes the insertion of the new en-suite into the old plan.

Each of the four bedrooms feature large expanses of glazing framing picturesque views of the wide-open countryside. While the rural position of the house presents spectacular serenity, daily amenities (including a well-loved local pub) are within short reach.

For storage, IKEA carcasses were wrapped with painted MDF exteriors for a streamlined appearance. "The new, simplified design with the doors painted the same color as the wall means the wardrobes are less dominant," says Astrain. "This helps the room feel less crammed, calmer, tidier, and bigger."

The newly installed closet doors are custom made. Unique details, like the cremone bolts attached to the leaded glass doors, create an extra layer of character in the room design.

The master bedroom is bright and airy, with easy access to the yard and gardens.

The balcony at the master bedroom also buffers the sleeping area from the harsh tropical sunlight.
