The Bracy Cottage — Bedroom

The larger stucco-clad volume houses the bedroom and the bathroom.

“We sleep together in the same bed, and it’s quite cute and cosy,” Parinita says.

The bedroom is located in a sleeping loft above the bathroom. A built-in wall shelf and a recessed nook provide areas to place art, objects, and personal items.

Large vintage pendants from an old ship suspend above the dining table, crafted by Dave Ball of Jacob May in Oakland. The radiant-heat flooring is reclaimed barn wood from Tennessee. The artwork that hangs above the cabinet and conceals a television was created from pieces of wood painted by local artists during a party hosted by Marka and Joe, who elected to leave the living area's large metal structural beam exposed.

The couple’s bedroom opens directly into a private recessed courtyard, offering an intimate space to gather away from the busy street above.

Even the bedrooms integrate the outdoor spaces into the design.
