Like all the interior rooms, the furniture elements in the master bedroom have been built into the architecture, making efficient use of the compact space.

The home has a master bedroom and a bunk room with four beds. The clients' two daughters enjoy completely disconnecting from technology when spending time in the weekend retreat.

The master bedroom is enclosed in glass, and connects to the outdoors via massive pivot doors.

Custom Frama shelving provides space for a minimalist wardrobe.

If you’re working with a room that has sloped or low ceilings, a ground-hugging bed frame allows for ample head height and takes advantage of windows that might sit close to the ground, like at this converted horse stable in Copenhagen. Here, Danish design reigns supreme: soap-washed pine flooring is consistent throughout the home, but the darker wood finishes on a custom bed frame made out of oiled white Douglas fir allow it to stand out.

The ceiling is exposed corrugated metal salvaged from the old house’s pitched roof and reused as decking for the concrete slab overhead. The space also features a Jessie Velvet armchair from Altea Design, a Dune pouf by Kare Design, and a Quinn wool rug from Crate & Barrel. Outside, a hammock beckons.

All three bedrooms are on the lower level. In the master, furnishings include a platform bed designed by Richard and Daniela and fabricated by Manuel Leon.

The wood paneling and the ceiling in the second bedroom are also original yet have a very contemporary feel. The second bedroom also features original sliding glass doors leading to the backyard.

At 55 Monterrey, historic details like the bay window seen here are rolled into a space that feels very modern.
