Working with Henrybuilt was one of the smoothest parts of the rebuiling process for Nugent.

The living and kitchen spaces flow together, framed by wood cabinetry, terrazzo, and abundant greenery.

The home's open-plan living area is heated in winter by a wood-burning fireplace and radiant-heated ceramic flooring. The floors cool in the summer months and, along with natural ventilation from the home's many windows, mean the house doesn't require air conditioning.

The primary suite has eastern-facing views, given that the owner wanted morning light.

La Base designed the shelving in the living space.

Across the entry courtyard and through a lapacho wood door is the living space, which was constructed using traditional methods.

In the living room, corner glazing helps blur the line between inside and out. The sofa is by Minotti and the coffee table is by Jake Szymanski. The lounge chair is Finn Juhl.

A pizza oven and built-in storage spaces line a hallway, saving space. "6,000-square-foot houses for single families don't make sense ecologically—or in my opinion, functionally," says Hirsh. "The house is a nice size for our life—plenty large, but not unwieldy." Photo by Ron Johnson.

New folding glass doors connect the downstairs living room to the revamped yard. The floors are concrete and the ceilings are Hemlock.
