Thin, slatted wood paneling adds warmth to this bathroom.

In a life-changing move, homeowners Hannah Smith and Jeremy Witt reside in a caravan in the rural landscape of Suffolk, England, to oversee the restoration of a crumbling barn complex. Simple plywood, cut out to allow views of the landscape, creates subdivisions within the home for private bedroom and bathroom spaces. Rather than formal rooms, they have the effect of large-scale furniture. The master bedroom features an ensuite tub.

The minimalist bathroom boasts Cararra marble surfaces, Hansgrohe faucets and shower fixtures, and a skylight by Velux.

A horizontal glass pane stretches the length of the bathroom, illuminating the redesigned space from above.

Thousands of river pebbles are stacked to create a unique look in this shower in the master suite. Boffi pipe shower fixtures lend an industrial look.

"The tub was an important element for the client, so we designed the teak wall and floor element to elevate that tub area since there was not enough space to completely separate it from the rest of the bathroom," said Maggio.

The renovation introduced new plumbing fixtures, lighting, custom wood vanities, and tiled walls in the bathroom.

Cementitious sheets were used for the wet areas in the bathroom.

The master bath also received a new materials palette, including tile from Mosaic House, lights from Apparatus and Workstead, and tadelakt plaster walls and ceiling, which the designers say "feel simultaneously consistent with other home elements, yet fresh and forward."

In 1968, Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen designed the 112 faucet and mixer series and a line of in-wall accessories for Vola. In 2014, the Danish company updated the classic design by adding a deep copper finish.

Inside, the bottom floor contains the bedroom, off of which is the bathroom, with a tub from Kaldewei and a Duravit sink.

The renovation added just 500 square feet, but the family went from two bedrooms and three bathrooms to five bedrooms and three and a half baths.
