Banquette

The dining table is from Spanish furniture brand Marlot Baus—and features an oak pedestal base that allows everyone to sit comfortably in the banquette.

The bench top is an unusual type of marble that picks up on the colors used throughout the fit-out. "The green picks up on the lighting, while the pink tones reflect the micro-cement and upholstery,

Leila D'Angelo, a brand consultant and passionate sewer in her spare time, with her son in the new kitchen, which features bespoke banquet seating inspired by welcoming hospitality interiors.

“All our inspiration was France, Italy, Morocco, Greece—just not England,” says homeowner Leila D’Angelo. “We deviated quickly from the idea of a ‘renovated Victorian house’ and leaned into something much more Mediterranean, because that’s what felt authentic to us.”

An Aria table from Room and Board creates a spot to gather. The countertop is Barbados honed marble from Walker Zanger, and it surrounds an LG induction cooktop.

Hess filled the niche with upholstered seating, a green onyx table with a custom powder-coated base, and tiered millwork at the ceiling. The hand-knotted, silk-blend carpet pillows are from Christiane Millinger, and light fixture is a blush-colored Gae Aulenti.

A banquette salvaged from a diner was added to the corner. Eric made the table and April sourced the poofs from a flea market.

Ellie installed the Étoffe wallpaper over the banquette seat.

The couple added a comfortable seating area with a tufted banquette in the corner, custom-built by their contractor. The pendant over the table is from Lulu and Georgia, and the chairs are from All Modern.

Kappe sits on a sofa in the media room, which continues the semicircular curve. “The form came from the [original] client’s preference,” he notes. The rattan ottoman (found in Palm Springs) is by Franco Albini, and the carpet is from Malibu Rugs.

The loft is on the third floor, and the windows look out onto a parking lot and church, so they offer unobstructed light and views. "In the summer, I could just sit here and watch the fireworks," he says.

The end table lamp in the living room is by Rachel Corry.

In the living room, the built-in daybed was fabricated by Michael Mellon and Benjamin Winslow out of old-growth redwood. The vintage Japanese and Turkish rugs were sourced from Slow Roads. “We chose the green fabric for the daybeds because we wanted it to be retro looking,” explains Nick, who worked with San Francisco company Hardesty Dwyer & Co. on the upholstery. The Noguchi pendant light is vintage, and the orb sconces were sourced from In Common With.

Builder Nick Maimone founded his construction company, Sunrise Homestead, in 2016. The firm unites his background in fine art with his interest in craft and carpentry.

Builder Nick Maimone founded his construction company Sunshine Homestead in 2016, which unites his background in fine art with his interest in craft and carpentry. For this cabin renovation, Nick was inspired by the history of counterculture craft in the region.

The second floor overlooks the first, allowing more access to the living room's floor-to-ceiling windows.
