When Wright created the initial sketches for the property at 83, he had hoped the house would surpass Fallingwater.
Loosemore says, "Being in a small house with kids and a dog, it’s hard to find places of tranquility." The solution: a private deck off the master bedroom.
This large screened porch is a favorite destination of the homeowner. "She spends a lot of time on the screened porch because it straddles the meadow and the mountains," said Wiedemann. "And it's directly accessible from the living area and the kitchen."
The architect covered the exterior in Pac-Clad, a metal roofing material, because it's "cost-effective, durable, maintenance-free, and comes in various colors," says Church.

Atop the 30-foot tower, a roof deck emerges through the trees, providing a unique vantage point of the structure below and the surrounding townscape.

“When you have a tiny house, having outdoor spaces off a room can make a big difference,” Schicketanz says. Luckily, each room already had its own deck, which the architect simply refurbished by installing concrete floors and galvanized stainless steel railings.
